The washer, scraper or squeegee push on the pole with and interference fit, meaning you need to ensure its pushed on tight. There are no locking pins on the tools.They wont fall off the pole under basic cleaning conditions. The locking function is desired for more vigorous work other than your basic window cleaning.
The cone fitting on this pole does have a chunky style ACME Americanized thread, the same as paint rollers. If you are needing a pole to screw anything to that thread, such as a wash brush, go for the Glidex poles which have a longer and stronger utility end tip for this purpose.
